What path are you taking? How long will it take for you to get where you're going?
We will begin our journey together through Proverbs. The Bible is organized in order (from beginning to end (somewhat, but that will be for later)), but it’s best you first go over the rules and commandments to cleanse and circumcise yourself from your flesh. At your gates, you post The Ten Commandments and discuss them daily to remain fresh. The other important rules are the Golden Rules. There are more teachings you must study before diving into your Bible. Proverbs and Psalms (we will go through after Proverbs) are the next you want to apply to your walk. Proverbs is for Knowledge and Wisdom. God says His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Being we are God’s Children, we must protect ourselves from being destroyed by the enemy. It’s never too late to learn and no one is too advanced to go back and review them. With the new age at hand, we have to be ready for what is to come. You do not want to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off at this time. With that said, let’s begin. 👣
Opening Prayer
God, we come to you today to help us not to lean to our own understanding, but to Yours. We ask that You cover us in our study and guide us. Let all be known that we, your children, must know. So, that we will be with You in the end times and far from the enemy. As for us, we believe in the one and only true God. Who was, Who is, and Who’s to come.
In Jesus Name. Amen.
Proverbs 1:1-7
Please take out your Bibles and read Proverbs 1:1-7 before reading further. There are three sections we will divide it into (as in the Bible)… The Beginning of Knowledge, The Enticement of Sinners, and The Call of Wisdom.
The Beginning of Knowledge
Proverbs 1:1-7 – The Introductions
To know wisdom and instruction – You have to develop a relationship with wisdom and instruction. Become familiar and spend time with them. They will extend your life; help you to discern and choose the right paths when you exercise your free will gifted to you by God.
Perceive (become aware or to recognize def) the words of understanding – When God speaks to you, you will recognize and be aware of His words and instruction if you gain knowledge. Words of understanding – translate to His teachings, as well as, things that are seen and unseen (truths that are/will be revealed by God, Himself, unto His children).
To receive… Instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment, fairness/justness -None of this you will hear from if you don’t gain knowledge. These are a qualities we must have throughout our days. These I call your common sense. You can’t leave the house without it. This is one of the most important things in my book to teach your children/yourself. To save them from pure pressures that thrive in the world today. You should stand strong in what you believe in (cleanliness) and be unwavering. Open your mouth and openly rebuke/speak against it. In hope, to wake your neighbor and set an example of what walking with God looks like.
To give caution to the simple and discretion to the youth. – I repeat it’s to give common sense to you/your children. Being born into this world now… There are so many impurities that can influence you to do unclean things and live in filthiness. There are stronger forces of evil that exist now and they are not afraid of showing themselves anymore. Protect yourself and children from evil. If you were born into an environment of uncleanliness, cleanse yourself and be different from what you came out of. It will be hard, but God is with you. Be strong.
Let the wise (Those who made the choice to follow God’s instruction, love Him and only Him, and live by Him) increase in learning, gain guidance, and to understand a Proverb. – The Proverbs are specifically for the increase of knowledge. You want to excel in your studies. Proverbs! The deep messages, you will be given an ear to understand by God if you genuinely want to learn. Ask and you shall receive the understanding. For somethings, you might not understand deeply all at once. Be patient and you will receive it.
The introduction closes with this:
Proverbs 1:7
‘The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Fools do not like wisdom and instruction. Fools. If you’re on the path to destruction and chose not to listen, you will stay in it. The only escape is through the Fear of the LORD/ the Fear of God. Reading further… Wisdom will laugh at you for your choices. Do you want to be entertaining? Burn with the enemy? I wouldn’t want to be. Walk with wisdom and hear it, receive it. Acquire the Fear of the LORD.
I have to add I love every verse with the Fear of the LORD in it. Hits you right in the gut. Do you feel it? Powerful!
