Let's take a look at this chapter together. I got a message from this chapter. I was feeling unaccomplished in my life and like I needed to do more. God lead me to this scripture and it set in my spirit. I just want to highlight some verses together. Let's got to verse 1-8.
“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”
Matthew 6:1-8 KJV
This is a list of godly behaviors one must have and practice. They are very plain and clear in these verses. Basically God does not like vanity and things done for recognition. We must keep our footing on the right path and steer away from these kinds of actions. Let's keep reading...
“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 6:9-15 KJV
Everyone knows Our Fathers Prayer. Let us say this with a whole heart filled with love and praise. Amen. Ask for forgiveness daily. When you start questioning your worth you should start praying. God made each and every one of us with a purpose.
Everything that was created has value, if it didn’t, it wouldn’t have been created. Planted with a purpose, yielding fruit known and unknown, but always baring. Filling. You are enough. - Cadie Chisolm
We are very much like plants. We sometimes do not know how much our fruit is actually giving. You will never see it if you look with your flesh, you have to use your spirit. The spiritual eyes that God gifted you. You don't know how much you are worth. Let God tell you. He loves you so much.
Let's look at verses 16-18.
“Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.”
Matthew 6:16-18 KJV
God does not want to see you prove to man what you can do. He wants you to prove it to Him. Makes me think of this scripture:
"That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."
1 Cor 2:5
You don't have to shout it to the world that you are blessing and giving. Nor, should you fell you have to announce it because others are doing it. You see this so much in this generation today. Don't do as they do. Go on your way on the path that God wants to see you on. Just you and Him.
Now, at last, He made me read all of this to get my answer. Am I enough?
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 KJV
I cried as I read this verse. My treasures are not here nor should put them here. I am enough and I have enough. I have what I need. The Word of God and God My Father Himself. This just took all the feelings of insecurity away. Then it says where your treasures are is where your heart will be. This just had my heart overflowing. He was telling me that He is with me, as well as, with you. How comforting this was to hear Him say through this text... "I am here."
On days where you can't see your purpose or place. You should pray. Ask God and He, Himself, will tell you. He is so amazing!
I hope this helps you if you feel or felt the same as I did. It's hard to keep up in this new aged world. But just remember that in everything that you do, God is with you. You are not alone and that you are enough.
Blessings,
Cadie Chisolm
